BASTILLE DAY, CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR OPENING DAY, LONGTERM PLUMBING PROBLEM DAY @ OLOL...........

As I draw a close to my longest, fullest, busiest, day back in OLOL Parish yet - in the eight days since my discharge from Mercy General Hospital Rehabilitation,  it has been Bastille Day, the date in history when the French people stormed the bastiile, - the jail and freed the prisoners, as an uprising against the monarchy and it's tyranny, which three years later led to the French Revolution, a constitutional monarchy, and a Republic of France.....

Here in the Golden State of California, it is the opening day of the annual State Fair at Cal Expo, in Sacramento.   As a child, I remember as do countless Sacramentans and California State Fair and Exposition was on Stockton Boulevard and Broadway.  That location was near enough to home and reasonably enough priced that we attended the State Fair most years until I was eleven years old, in  the summer before I entered junior high school.  An addition feature was from our front yard  between 9:45 - 10 p.m., each night of the State we could see and watch Fireworks bursting into the sky, while a night snack of either corn on the cob, or watermelon.....

At Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Del Paso Heights last night and today brought a recurring plumbing problem in the parish hall, as one of the kitchen floor drains clogged and began overflowing.  We notified our thirty year air-heating-cooling- plumbing person, who did not return the call.  Pressed with the necessity of addressing the continuing overflow problem, I called one of the plumbers in the area listed online, to get an estimate, as to basic charges for a service call and one hour of potential work today, and was quoted  a cost of $281.00.  Their daytime rate tomorrow is $164.00 per hour.  Then after parishioner Joe Kritzer, returned my phone call from earlier in the day, that this is a recurring problem for several years now, as it is a problem with the sewer system, which would be a very costly repair.  Joe informed that Straightline Plumbing was who the parish had used in the past , so I called the plumbing company and they sent a plumber out who will do his best to resolve the problem, before what is a busy weekend of activities from a Tongan Funeral Celebration , to Hospitality Sunday and the Parish's obsedrvance of Father Pius Amah's Birthday last Monday.....

That's my blog update for now...........Fr. Troy
