ANTICIPATING BRIGHTER BETTER SUNDAYS.............

Yet another Sunday detached from the priestly ministry my doctors say I have the capability to carry out by celebrating public Mass, and preaching, yet denied the right to so while subsisting in a community not proper to my age and ability, but instead  as though I am decades older.  I will not give up,or retire, and with God's Grace  and the realization by the powers that be that disability is not disqualification.  In the United States and the American Catholic-Christian Church it is about Inclusiveness, Empowerment, and Equal Opportunity, to work, to minister, to serve.  To do otherwise is to fail to live the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus The Christ, our Good Shepherd and the Light of the World.............tdp

WINDING UP HOME HEALTH.............

My home health nurse made her last visit to me yesterday at MMT; and my home health physical therapist finished her work with me today.  Today's pt session concluded with me using the walker to proceed from my quarters on the 2nd floor and taking the elevator downstairs and going to  the 1st floor dining room and back up to my quarters, in the presence of the pt and a MMT aide.  I am henceforth to be escorted by an aide and use my to go to and from the dining room for meals.  Making that happen in a timely, seamless, manner without unnecessary delays in my going to and comiing back from breakfast, lunch, dinner, will be the next challenge to meet.............tdp

A FOLLOW-UP MEDICAL APPOINMENT THIS MORNING WITH MY TEAM NEUROLOGIST.............

I had my first follow-up appointment with my neurologist, Dr. Armin Mahamood, at the Sutter Roseville Neurological Science Center.  Dr. Mahamood is joined with Dr. Jakiddi Reddy, my PCP, in treating the slight stroke and blood clot and finds the treatment plan they have put in place to be working.  My next regularly scheduled appointment with him is in three months, during which time I will continue taking the blood thinner medication and doing regular lab draws.  Another MRI will be scheuled  this Fall.  The best news today is Dr. Mahamood telling me I  am capable to return to full time ministry right now.............tdp

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE ?.............

So much has happened in the past seven weeks that I was unable to blog, about, that I will do my best to address as many of the developments as I can  in the days and weeks ahead.Today, I will provide an updated summary of the current state of my priestly ministry.  In early May, after fourteen months of involuntary exile at Mercy McMahon Terrace, more than double the length of time I was told at the outset it was expected I would be here; I was informed by the Diocesan Administration that I would be allowed to move our of MMT not into a rectory but into an  apartment .No guarantee of a new, official, assignment to public, liturgical, sacramental, homiletic, ministry was included, despite the sound and solid ministry proposal request I submitted on Easter Monday.  So for a few more months I will remain in this geriatric facility where I am 20-45 years younger than the other residents,  including the other two priests and Bishop Emeritus Quinn, who are retired, while I am not retired, and neither am I a geriatric............Fr. A GRADUAL RESUMPTION

Good day readers; as I proceed with the resumption of my blog, after the incident at the end of May having developed a duodenal ulcer between Easter Week and Memorial Day, I awoke very sick, tumbled headlong from my bed, in Mercy McMahon Terrace hitting my head very hard.  Within the following hour the an MRI showed I had a slight stroke on the left side of my brain, injuring my "pathic memory", affecting my numerical and short term memory.  Medical treatment, and comprehensive therapy have me well on the way to recovery.  I appreciate the multitude of your prayers, Masses, and more than  1,200 visits to my blog during the past six and a half weeks. More to fome on this and much, much, MORE.............Reverend Father Troy David Powers
