SIMULTANEOUS DEATHS IN THREE PROMINENT AMERICAN POLITICAL FAMILIES...........

The Sunday obituaries included news that Charles Percy, Kara Kennedy, and Eleanor Mondale, have died.  All three were from prominent American political familes.  Charles Percy, a highly successful and charismatic, chief executive of the Bell and Howell Camera Company, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1966, and served three terms as a moderate, to liberal, Republican, in the mode of the late Vice President of the United States, Nelson Rockefeller.  Narrowly defeated for re-election in 1984, the potential he possessed, that some thought might take him to the White House, never materialized.  His daughter, Sharon Percy Rockefeller, is the president and chief executive, of  WETA / NPR, in Washington, and is the wife of West Virginia U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller.  Former Senator Percy, died of Alzheimer's Disease, at age 91.  Kara Kennedy, oldest daughter of the late U.S. Senator Edward 'Ted' Kennedy,, and Joan Bennett Kennedy, died suddenly Friday at age 51, of a heart attack after completing a health club workout in the Washington, D.C., area.  She was a professional filmmaker, and contnues the string of two generations of Kennedys, who met early, or mid age deaths, in her dynastic political family.  Also only 51, Eleanor Mondale, daughter of former Vice President and Mrs. Walter and Joan Mondale, succumbed to her bout with  the recurrence of a brain tumor, at her home in Minnesota on Saturday.  She became an entertainment reporter, and radio talk show host, in Minneapolis, but had been off the air, since March 19, 2009, when she announced her brain tumor had returned.  As I blog about these passings in the 11 o'clock hour on this Monday night, news headlines, are reporting the passing away of Delores Hope at age 102, the wife of the late, great, acclaimed comedian superstar, Bob Hope.  More on her in a blog column tomorrow.  Charles Percy, Kara Kennedy, Eleanor Mondale, Delores Hope, - May they Rest in Peace...........Fr.  Troy
