THE DAY AFTER OLOL'S STARTS "THE WORD AMONG US", PARISH SCRIPTURE STUDY - WE COMMEMORATE ST. JEROME, PRIEST AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH; FATHER OF THE BIBLE...........

Having begun our three month Thursday afternoon Scrpture Study Series, based on the October, November, December 2011, publications of, "The Word Among Us", as we seek together to garner greater insight into the Word of God for our lives in the present moment; today we join with the Universal Church in celebrating the stellar saint of the 4th Century of Catholic-Christianity, the Memorial of St. Jerome, Priest of Jesus Christ, and Doctor of the Church.  It is St. Jerome who applying his penchant for biblical scholarship, compiled, authenticated, and produced, in one volume of 73 books, the Sacred Scrpture, the greatest selling book in the history of the world, The Holy Bible.  St. Jerome's scholarly survey of all the known manuscripts to purportedly be considered sacred Word, from both the Hebrew Scriptures, and the Christian Scriptures, chose 46 writings of the Jewish Tradition; and 27 writings of the Christian Tradition, and gathered them together as a comprehensive, canonical, compendium, that forms the Holy Book of God's Word of Divine Revelation to Humankind.  The Old and New Testaments, as the two major parts of the Bible are poularly known, span the 2 Great Covenants God the Almighty has established with the Jewish and Catholic-Christian People of God, as the Living Word of Reconciliation, Redemption, and Relationship, by which we are forgiven our sins and vindicated by the Paschal Mystery and Discipleship.  How is God's Word present in your life today, as you mirror the dedication of St. Jerome to authenticating the power of Sacred Scripture over your daily walk with the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit ?...........May you make God's Word a reality in your life today, by reading, meditating, and pondering on the message of salvation The Divine has for you and me, on this 30th day of September, in the Year of Our Lord 2011,   Fr.  Troy
