A MONDAY FEDERAL HOLIDAY HONORING ALL THE PRESIDENTS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR NATION...........

Today, Presidents' Day, is the third Federal Holiday of 2011, in the United States. Two of the three, I have spent in the hospital and rehabilitation, as many Americans have another three day weekend, and hopefully remember the real purpose of this holiday. In the two hundred and twelve years we have had an American Presidency, as the Executive Branch of the Government of the United States, forty four men have occupied the Office of President / Chief Executive. Traditionally, from the inception of honoring with a national holiday, the birthdays of the two Presidents considered seminal to the founding of our country; and the saving of our nation; the First President of the United States, George Washington, 1789-1797; and our Sixteenth President Abraham Lincoln, 1861-1865; there has been an observance of the Presidents. In 1971, the double holidays commemorating Washington and Lincoln, were combined and merged with remembrance of all our country's Presidents and retitled, Presidents' Day, observed on the third Monday of February, each year ever since. Despite the crises and controversies, the 44 Presidents of the USA have presided over, dealt with, and led our citizens to resolve, and the mistakes, many, if not most have made along the way, the current upheaval in Egypt and the Middle East in recent weeks, is a solid reminder to one and all of us, that we possess the precious gifts of freedom and liberty, to have the oportunity every four years unfailingly, to choose by our personal and collective votes, the person who will govern, lead, and serve, the People of our Land, as a sancrosanct privilege to direct and preside over developing, and proposing, the approaches, direction, and policies, we need to conduct the affairs, and provide the peace and prosperity, justice, equality, decency, and integrity, that are essential to the furtherance and solidarity of our national Union. Those virtues and values in turn, contribute to the peace and well being of the World. May you spend some time today with your families, friends, neighbors, and fellow believers, pondering, the service and leadership, in varied ways and effectiveness, every one of the Presidents of the United States have rendered; to the betterment of this and all countries with the principles and core values that are the foundation and hallmark of all we advocate and believe in for the betterment of the USA and every country seeking to improve and sustain, the progress of peoples, with dignity, and integrity for the human person...........Happy Presidents' Day, Fr. Troy

and values, that are the hallmark of,liberty and justice, and progress, civil, and human rights, for all citizens in the USA and every for all countries around the globe...........Happy Presidents' Day 2011, Fr. Troy
