HOW THE SADDEST DAY IN HUMAN HISTORY BECAME THE GOOD FRIDAY OF SALVATION HISTORY...........

137 parishioners attended our Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday, which was 70 minutes in length.  Fr. Pius presided, with Fr. Tony and yours truly joining him in the sanctuary.  The Proclamation of John's Passion in four voice parts;followed by Pius' homily and the extended General Intercessions; special collection for the Holy Land, taken up in all Catholic churches today; the Veneration of the Cross, which we conducted appropriately, with a single, substantially sized crucifix, not multiple crosses, for such a numbered congregation; followed by the Holy Communion Service.  Tonight we will conclude the public liturgy of Good Friday, with Stations of the Cross, at 7 pm.  Upon my return to the rectory and a light lunch of melted cheese sandwiches and juice, their was a voicemail message for me from the Manager in the Bakery department of SaveMart, in Town and Country Village informing me that they can fill our order for 13 dozen Hot Cross Buns, for the Easter Sunday Sunrise Mass light breakfast.  The unfair and intense suffering of the Son of Man, Who is truly the Son God, the Anointed One of All Creation, and His Passion, Death, and Burial, are the essential means by which this saddest of all days in human history, became the ever enveloping Good Friday of Salvation for humankind.
Without the willingness of the Co-Eternal Son of God to become the Lamb of Sacrifice for our sins, vis a vis the Paschal Mystery He embraced, the obstruction of our fallen nature would still steep us in the inability to be re-united and in a graced relationship with the Divine GodHead.  Our observance of this Sacred Triduum provides us the opportunity to affirm our belief in Jesus The Christ, as our Redeemer and Reconciler; and the need we have for His Passion, Death, and Resurrection to gain Salvation.  How are you acknowledging; commemorating; remembering; Jesus' selfless sacrifice for your sins and redemption ?...........Fr.  Troy
