THE 7TH DAY OF EASTER : WINDING UP THE FIRST WEEK OF THESE GLORIOUS 50 DAYS...........

It is a very windy Saturday morning here in Sacranento, and the tree to the west of the rectory outside is blowing firecely.  It is a 4 pm Confessions, 5 pm Vigil Mass day, as we bring the first week of Easter to a close.  Today, we liturgically hear from Mark 16:9-15; as the Gospel of the Day.  In this passage, Mark the Evangelist provides how Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene after His Resurrecetion, and how her experience and that of the Disciples on the road who encountered the Risen Jesus, were not immediately believed by others with whom they shared the news.  A scriptural phrase around which a Jesuit retreatmaster presented a week's reflect to me and my fellow seminarians, in the day - sums up the response of Faithful People, to that kind of response, "Lord, Help My UnBelief" !!!!!!!!!!!  Only by believing, accepting, embracing, following, the Good News of the Risen Christ, can we all Believers, come to the fulfillment of New and Risen, Eternal Life in God's Kingdom.  The wind fiercely blowing outside today, is a more than subtle reminder, that tomorrow, the Octave Say of Easter, is the Sacrament of Confirmation Day here at OLOL...........Fr.  Troy
