EASTER WEDNESDAY : ON THE 4TH DAY OF THIS OCTAVE WE PONDER THE ROAD TO EMMAUS EXPERIENCE FOLLOWING JESUS' RESURRECTION...........

On the night of Christ's Resurrection, Luke's Gospel 24:13-35; chronicles the story of two Disciples of Jesus, who were walking along a road, discussing the events involving their Master, of recent days.  How He had suffered and been put to death, only to have reports surfacing that He had Risen on the third day.  And a stranger joins these two disciples along the road and walks with them; seemingly unaware of the memory of the events burning in their hearts.  They eagerly inform the stranger in animated conversation until they reach their destination, the village of Emmaus.  The stranger was supposedly journeying farther, but is convinced to join the two in their Emmaus lodgings overnight.  As they sit at table together and break bread, it is then that they see with the new eyes of Faith, who this stranger was, their very Master, the Risen Jesus.  Yet, it is then He also vanishes from their midst;  another post Resurrection appearance on the day of His Rising from the Dead, having occurred.
The Road To Emmaus story, like the Gospel stories of Christ's Easter morning appearance to Mary Magdalene, being two of the reports of Jesus' New and Risen Life, that unfolded on THE Easter Sunday.  On this 4th Day of the Paschal Season of 50 Glorious Days, in the midst of the Octave of the Solemnity of Easter, we as Catholic-Christians, revisit and recognize the Emmaus event, as one of the assurances of our Faith in the Eternal Life Jesus The Christ possesses and provides for us who believe in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection.  As your daily lives stream into these 50 Days, may the vigor and vitality of Christ's Resurrectional Joy, burn in your hearts today and everyday, in the Paschal Mystery that redeems and saves us...........Easter Peace !!!!...........Fr.  Troy
