FAREWELL TO THE WOMAN BEHIND TELEVISION'S FUNNIEST COMEDIENNE EVER.....AND THE MAN WHO CREATED TELEVISION'S MOST FAMOUS WITCH...........

News reports Thursday announced word of the deaths of Madelyn Pugh Davis, and Sol Saks.  Mrs. Pugh Davis was a prodigously creative news and television writer / producer, from the 1940's  - 1980's, on radio and television.  She was 90 years old.  Mr. Saks, a veteran writer of radio series' in the 1940's and 1950's, then became a television series creator, who only ever wrote one tv pilot, that became a phenomeonally successful eight year series.  He was 100.  Madelyn Pugh Davis, was the "girl", woman writer writer for five decades of the late, great, Lucille Ball.  Pugh-Davis wrote for Lucy's  radio series, "My Favorite Husband", which transmogrified into the, "I Love Lucy" television series from 1951-57; and continued as a comedy writer for Lucy Ball, on the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour", 1957-60; "The Lucy Show", 1962-68; "Here's Lucy", 1968-74; and, "Life With Lucy", 1986.  With her decades long Lucy co-writing partner, Bob Carroll, she also wrote Ball's 1968  theatrical movie, with co-star Henry Fonda, "His, Mine, Ours".  Pugh-Davis and Carroll, also created and wrote the 1967 tv series, "The Mothers-In-Laws, with Eve Arden and Kay Ballard; and produced and wrote the mid 1970's to mid 1980's tv series, "Alice", starring Linda Lavin.  Sol Saks, who claimed he was inspired by 1942 and 1958, theatrical films about romantic relationships between humans an witches, wrote the pilot episode for, and created the popular 1964-1972, ABC television series, "Bewitched", starring Elizabeth Montgomery / Dick York / Dick Sargent.  "Lucy Ricardo", and "Samantha Stephens", became two of television's favorite comedy characters, in large measure due to the writing and cast of characters, in both series.  Almost every program delivered episode after episode of outstanding and enjoyable entertainment, that has continued to delight audiences for more than 60 years, including presently on TVLand and Nick At Night, as well as television networks in countries around the world.  I salute and pay tribute to these two excellent wordsmiths and their lasting affect on my, yours, ours, and others lives, making us laugh, smile, and enjoy, for countless hours in perpetuity.  In Madelyn Pugh's case news reports of her passing are now stating she not only came up with the concepts and scripts for Lucy, but was also the guinea pig tester for all the zany stunts and antics, she and Bob Carroll created as slapstick for Lucille Ball !!!!!!!!!!!..........God Bless Them With A Heavenly Reunion With The Stars They Helped Make All The Funnier...........TV Troy
