SOARING INTO THE LAST FULL DAY OF RETREAT AND REIMAGINING...........

Thursday opens on what has been a well received, annual Retreat this week, for the Priests of the Sacramento Diocese.  Just as Jesus, Co-Eternal Son of God, and the Christ of Salvation, needed to take time away from His Public Ministry and His Disciples, to rest and regroup, for the work ahead, and to reflect on the ministry completed; so too, do we as Priests of Jesus Christ, have the need to spiritually, pastorally, and fraternally, recharge our batteries.  This week is certainly accomplishing that, as we are provided more theological food for the journey and given the time to sojourn together as brothers in Christ, with quality time spent together.  That is particularly important in a Diocese the size of Sacramento, covering more than 43,000 square miles, and stretching from Sacramento, up to Alturas and Yreka; down to Galt; and over to Vallejo and South Lake Tahoe / Tahoe City.  20 counties, 103 parishes, and several dozens of ministries, claim the great share of our time, thus it is reinvigorating and reuniting to consider how we can reimagine and reshape the productivity and fidelity, of our priestly ministries - so as to be able to carry out our duties with the power of the Risen Christ, teeming through us.  Fr. Pius and I, like all your priests will return to you, with a refreshed focus and energy to give you our best, and to lead you, and serve you, as our Priests Retreat has provided an injection of rest and renewal, that empowers us to renew our appreciation and acceptance of the prayer, worship, and ministry, our Vocation - the Call to Holy Orders and Priesthood, we have heard and answered...........Fr.  Troy
