JACKIE COOPER: THE "SCAMP" CHILD STAR, WHO BECAME,"THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE", AND ONE OF HOLLYWOOD'S MOST PROLIFIC DIRECTORS...........

The youngest person ever to nominated, and to win, an Academy Award as Best Actor, at age 9, Jackie Cooper, who started in movie shorts, that led him to a role in the, "Little Rascals", "Our Gang" comedies of the late 1920's , he was loaned by producer Hal Roach, to Paramount Pictures, to star in the movie, "Skippy", in 1931, and was so perfect in the role, he was nominated For Best leading male actor, and won the Oscar, at age 9, making him the youngest actor ever to win in that catergory.  He went on as a child to co-star in several films with actor Wallace Beery, the most well known of them perhaps being, "The Champ".  He continued movie acting into young adulthood and then tried his hand at television in the 1950's, his most famous role as a small town mayor in NBC TV's, "The People's Choice".  Turning to directing and television production, he was a copious director of innumerable television series episodes, including M.A.S.H.  During my high school years he starred in another short lived Jack Webb television production, "Mobile One", as a television reporter who covered stories from a helicopter.  In 1978, through the 1980's he returned to a co-starring role in a series of Superman movies on the silver screen, with Christopher Reeve, portraying the irrascible, Daily Planet newspaper editor, Perry White.   To me, Jackie Cooper came across as an All American average boy and man, who optimized an upbeat, can do, meet your challenges, approach to living, in his various acting roles.  Jackie Cooper  was born within six and a half months of my parents, on September 15, 1922.  He died on Tuesday - May 3, 2011, in a Los Angeles area, nursing facility.  He was 88.  I salute him for an entertainment career well acted, directed, and produced.  And for making more of a contribution to Hollywood, then many realize, or acknowledge.  May He And All Our Beloved Dead, Now Come To Share In The Eternal Easter Of God's Kingdom, As "Skippy" Meets The "Champ" In The Highest Flight "Mobile One" Has Ever Made, To Meet The "Superman" Of The Ages, In The God And Man, Jesus The Risen And Redeeming Christ,  Alleluia !!!  Amen !!!...........Fr.  Troy
