MID MAY AND THE SURGE TOWARDS SUMMER...........

As the middle of the month of May is here, our Sacramento / Northern California weather is following an unpredictable course, from wind, rain, and snow, to bright sunshine and warmth.  More than half way through Spring and the Pasch, the annual rituals of this season of nature are unfolding, from little league, soccer, t-ball, to Confirmations, First Communions, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, graduations, commencements, spring and summer Weddings, Ordinations; these events go forward, even as the elements go from being in the 80's and 90's Fahrenheit, as they were last week, to the chillier, windy, wet, raining, and snowing, temperatures of today.  The bright, sunny, weather yesterday allowed for a larger than normal Saturday Vigil Mass attendance last night, and this morning's 8:30 am Mass held its own, so that the much lower than usual 10:30 am Mass attendance, did not decimate the average Sunday Mass attendance, here at OLOL.  That despite, the downpours of rain and thunder, that came just prior to, and during the second Mass this morning.  Having celebrated four consecutive Sundays with higher than normal attendance, given Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Confirmtion Sunday, and First Communion Sunday, today still afforded us an appreciable attendance.  As we proceed towards the unofficial start of  Summer, in two weeks, with Memorial Day weekend, may your participation in Sunday Eucharist, not flag - whatever the weather, or wherever you may be............Seeking To Answer The Call Of  The Risen Jesus The Christ, Our Good Shepherd,   Fr.  Troy
