"CANADA VOTES 2011" : THE CBC PROJECTS CONSERVATIVES WILL FORM A MAJORITY GOVERNMENT...........

With final results all but determined in the Canada Votes 2011 Federal Election tonight, the Conservatives and Prime Minister Stephen J. Harper,  have succeeded for the first time in three victories since 2006, in winning a majority government and will have 166 seats in the next Canadian Parliament.  They won their increase of 20 seats nationwide, with 40% of the total vote.  The New Democrats led by Jack Layton finished in second place, with 103 parliamentary seats, and 31% of the vote.  The Liberals and their leader Michael Ignatieff, fell to third, with their lowest number of seats won in Parliament ever, only 34 seats out of 308 in total, with 19% of the votes cast.  The Bloc Quebecois with leader Gilles Duceppe, won only 4 seats and 6% of the vote; while the Green Party and their leader, Elizabeth May, won just 1 seat, her own.  Prime Minister Harper appeared in his Riding of Calgary Southwest, to deliver his victory speech, taking full advantage of his new majority, gave a lengthy address more than fifteen minutes, in both English and French, speaking of a, "Strong, Stable, National Majority, Conservative Government".  The Canadian Electoral Map, as a result of this May 2 Vote, shows a Conservative tide in every province of the country.  In Ontario Province they won 72 of the 106 Ridings, underscoring their electoral strength, coming out of this five week election campaign.  My interest and intrigue tonight, comes from an interview with youthful, MP Justin Trudeau, re-elected in Quebec, that he will support Michael Ignatieff, continuing as Liberal Party Leader for the time being.  Having lost his seat, I must research how Ignatieff can retain the Leader's position without a parliamentary seat of his own.  I am grateful to the CBC, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, online for their television and radio coverage of Canada Votes 2011, and wish Our Neighbors To The North, An Effective And Productive Government...........Fr.  Troy
