OCTOBER'S THEMATIC FEAST - MEMORIAL OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY...........

As October is the Month of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, today - October 7th, is the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary.  Just as millions of Catholic-Christians are praying the Rosary on this Rosary feast day and during this month dedicated to this longhstanding devotion, 'imitating the mysteries of faith, the Rosary contains'; we continue daily to do the same here at OLOL Parish on Mondays-Fridays, at 7:40 a.m., before Morning Mass.  This liturgical feast has it's origins in the  victory of the Holy League of papal states against the Muslims in 1571. Pope Pius V, a Pope known for liturgical reform, established this Feast in response, as a memorial in thanksgiving to Our Lady of Victory, in the Battle of Lepanto.  That liturgical feast is now celebrated under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary.  So out of war, came a greater appreciation for this prayer of peace, and tranquilty, which focus on the mysteries of salvation, remembered in the 20 Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous, Meditations, which comprise the Rosary.    May your praying of the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary today, bring you into ever closer union with the Paschal Mystery of the Blessed Motrher's Son and Our Savior, Jesus The Christ....."Holy Mary, Mother Of God Pray For Us Sinners Now And At The Hour Of Our Death", Amen...........Fr.  Troy
