30TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME : MISSION SUNDAY AND WORLD YOUTH DAY SUNDAY...........

As we awake to on this Lord's Day, the 30th Sunday of Ordinary Time, we have a dual thematic focus as Catholic-Christians, on Mission Sunday, the work of the Church to evangelize and bring persons around the globe, to Faith, and a Catholic-Christian relationship with Jesus and the Community of Believers.  OLOL Parish effectively marked Mission Sunday, the last Sunday of August, when a Dominican Missionary preached a productive appeal, in this historically economically community.  In August, the World's Youth, their families, fellow parishioners, and  leadership from global dioceses, gathered in Madrid, Spain for  World Youth Day 2011.  Among our Sacramento participants were OLOL's parishioners, Damon and Ana Pierman and family;  and Reverend Father Benedict DeLeon, Pastor of St. Theresa's Parish, South Lake Tahoe, with delegations from the South Lake Tahoe and St. Joseph's Parish, Redding where he previously served as Pastor.  Today we acknowledge and affirm the presence and role of our youth in parish life, as they did last night, by participating in the Parish-wide Spaghetti Dinner / Talent Show, by taking part in the Talent Show.  The next step in the process for us is starting, sustaining, and making viable, a Parish Youth Ministry Group for our High Schoolers.  We will be meeting in coming weeks to put a bonafided effort started with the help of newer and more energized members with experience to provide Youth Ministry, in our parish.  May this Mission Sunday / World Youth Day Sunday, bring your families into closer Unity with God, the Universal Church of Jesus Christ, and your local Parish, were like at OLOL, is vital to, "Unity In Community"...........Fr.  Troy
