HOW DO YOU KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY ?...........

Sunday,  is the Sabbath, the Lord's Day, in the Catholic-Christian Tradition.  It is considered the First Day of the Week, and the Day on which Jesus Christ Resurrection occurred.  On the Lord's Day the People of God gather to celebrate the Passion, Death, and Resurrection, of Jesus The Christ - The Paschal Mystery; as have the Disciples of Jesus, in fulfillment of Christ's command, "Do This In Memory Of Me", from the very inception of the Paschal Mystery more than two thousand years ago.  Both the Ten Commandments and the Precepts of the Church, place an obligation on making the Lord's Day holy by our worship of God, and rest of the body, on the Sabbath.  But our attending to keeping the Lord's Day holy is farv more than a legalistic obligation.  It is a weekly opportunity to gather with our fellow believers, to pray, worship, minister, socialize, and spiritualize, our lives in a refreshing, renewing, way in Faith and Fellowship.  In addition to being present at, and participating in, the Sunday Celebration of Word and Eucharist, with the Community of Believers; we rightfully and respectfully observe the Sabbath, (Sunday), by keeping it as fully as possible as a weekly day of rest, leisure, charity, and good works.  It is a day not for work, as on the other six days of the week, but to be spent with family, friends, neighbors, the sick, elderly, disabled, or infirmed, in visitation and charitable works of care and consideration, for others.  And just as Sunday's are focused on the preaching of God's Word, and the breaking of the Word, as our R.C.I.A. Inquirers do; but for finding time to further reflect on the significance of Sacred Scriptures in our own life experiences.  How is your experience of Sunday today, and currently match this definition of Keeping the Lord's Day Holy ?  Are you keeping the commandment of God, and the precept of the Church, by taking the Sabbath opportunity, to pray, worship, minister, socialize, spiritualize, rest, and recreate ?  Or are you loading yourself down unnecessarily with work, worry, or false priorities that defame, rather than glorify the Lord God ?  Lift Up Your Hearts And Embrace The Sacred Truth In Your Lives...........In Christ Jesus The Lord Of The Sabbath,   Fr.  Troy
