MONDAY MORNING MASS AND BREAKFAST - THEN WE COMES OUR OVERNIGHT SIDE TRIP TO THE PENNISULA...........

With half of Fr. Oliver's brisk nine day caregiving visit to me post amputation behind us; this morning we do together what we have done both in Kilkenny and California for the past two dozen years when visiting each other - taking a side trip to a location outside our own vicinities.  Initially on this visit we had hoped to head up the hill to Lake Tahoe for a day and overnight stay.  However, the weather of recent weeks has left that at the time being a difficult trek to make, especially on a tight timeline, so that we have decided to go to the Monterey pennisula instead.  Awakening this morning to news that President Obama will deliver an Address from the National War College tonight, regarding the Crisis in Libya.  I will be watching from there as the student of the presidency I am, always do; before we have our breakaway dinner.  What I said in my pulpit announcements yesterday in seeking further overnight rectory caregivers April 1-20, applies to to our side trip, if Fr. Oliver has traveled 6,000 miles one way to provide me with nine days of post amputation caregiving, then a short journey beyond Sacramento, for a day and a night is in order and gladly taken by yours and my cherished colleague.  Our mutual thanks to Deb and Joe McNamara and their friend, Becky McReynolds, for an enjoyable Sunday night dinner in the McNamara's Curtis Park home, which included an after dinner stroll with me in the wheelchair down the park path.  Before and after this morning's Mass I am addressing other parish matters before Oliver and I head off until tomorrow afternoon.  An avid golfer, Fr. Oliver is looking forward to setting foot once again on the links of Pebble Beach, where I last visited with him ten years ago.  As the weather turns around after the past several weeks may this Monday bring spring sunshine into your activities as each of us proceeds responsively to the invitation to enter ever more fully with faithfulness and fidelity, To The Journey Of Life And Faith..........."Slan" Until Tomorrow,   Fr.  Troy
