WORLD AIDS DAY 2010..........

Pope Benedict XVI's statement clarifying the use of condoms two weeks ago was aimed specificially at the prevention and furtherance of the spread of AIDS.  Today is World AIDS Day and it draws our attention to what is being done and what more needs to be done to eradicate AIDS.  After thirty years of contending what this viscious disease there is much that needs to be done to increase awareness and address the serious problem contracting Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, (AIDS) is causing around the globe.  The sensibility the Holy Father and the Catholic Church are showing in regards to preventing and ending AIDS, is a big step forward in making a difference for the health of the human person and the world..........Remembering, Praying For, And Standing In Solidarity, On This World AIDS Day,   Fr.  Troy

Here is the exact question and the whole answer from PBXVI:
"Are you saying, then, that the Catholic Church is actually not opposed in principle to the use of condoms?”

"She of course does not regard it as a real or moral solution, but, in this or that case, there can be nonetheless, in the intention of reducing the risk of infection, a first step in a movement toward a different way, a more human way, of living sexuality."

If it is not a moral solution it cannot be justifed.

I hope you at least read the Kenyan Bishops statement. This is the proper understanding of PBXVI's statement and Chruch teaching.

"The Holy Father brings out an important point, that even those who find themselves deeply entrenched in immoral life, can gradually journey towards a conversion, and acceptance of God's laws. This journey may have steps which may in themselves not yet include a total submission to God's law, but rather a step closer to accepting it. However, those acts still remain sinful."
