THE LAST NIGHT OF OLOL'S ADVENT PARISH MISSION..........3 MAGNIFICENT NIGHTS THANKS TO FATHER STEVEN..........

OLOL's Advent Parish Mission, preached and presided over by Reverend Father Steven Avella, concluded last night.  Fr. Steve continued and completed his message of Advent Light and Hope for our parishioners, in coping with the struggles and everyday realities of poverty, violence, sickness, spiuritual drought, and decline in religious practice.  Over the three nights 48-130 parishioners were in attendance, a good number, but also a sign deep seated spiritual and pastoral renewal is necessary in our community of believers, as there are more than double that number of registered parish familes, as well as unregistered, non practicing Catholics living within the OLOL Parish, who could greatly benefit from the Advent Mission Father Avella led for us.   Fr. Steve's example of living heroes making a difference for people in darkness seeking the Light and Hope were Dan and Chris Delaney, co-founders of Sacramento's Loaves and Fishes Feeding and Sheltering Ministry.  Everyday they and the Loaves and Fishes Ministry, now under the leadership of Mercy Sister Libby Fernandez, provide food, shelter, and other vital services to the poor, hungry, needy, and homeless.  Many of  OLOL's parishioners can identify with that message and need corporal, spiritual, assistance to live with the ability to meet basic needs.  Our Feeding The Hungry and St. Vincent DePaul Society parish ministries are doing that weekly, year after year, but need the ongoing support of others to keep meeting the incredulous need of those who come to us.  Thank You Father Steve for an outstanding Parish Mission of extended Advent Reflections.  May those parishioners who were present and participating, become catalysts for growing the Light and Hope the Messiah's Coming brings for a brighter, better, OLOL Parish Community.  May all our members and Catholics in this parish be inspired to be more pro-active and fervent in their Discipleship..........Praying All Of Us Discover And Follow Christ's Advent Light Of Hope,
 Fr.  Troy

.....The Christmas Schedule Mailing has been sent.....
.....33 years ago today, I was initiated into Lambda Chi Alpha. Brother Robert "Mad Dog" Butcher was another of the initiates that night.  I offered Mass for the repose of his soul and that of his sister, Marie - this morning.....
9 - 11 years after their deaths, their love, friendship, and support, still burn brightly in my heart and memory.....
