`BRIAN CHARLES WELCH.....HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, FLYER, PILOT, FRIEND,.....1960-2010..........

My Sacramento State classmate, fellow Student Senator, and ASI Senate Chairman, as well as Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity brother, Captain BRIAN CHARLES WELCH, who went on to become a fantastic husband and father, and an Air Force officer, and American Airlines pilot; passed away Tuesday night at his home in Colleyville, Texas, after his nearly decade long battle with ALS - Lou Gehrig's Disease.  Brian was 50 years old.  Meeting him when he was 19, Brian was a man mature beyond his years.  He was a caring yet strong person, who was always faithfully focused on his responsibilities and the loves of his life - his wife, Kim; daughter, Nicola; and son, Dylan; his U.S. Air Force military flying in the first Gulf War, and his  airline piloting.  He was also a loyal and loving friend to me, and others in our circle, among them, Joe Gibson and Curtis Richards.  We will all miss him, but remember him forever, as a man who touched our lives by his steadfast example re-enforced by the valiant and dignified way he struggled with the ALS, for a period of time almost twice as long as most persons his age.  Thank You Brian, for your friendship and fraternity, and for being one of the lasting lights of my life.  I am grateful for the times we shared and will memorialize you now - and for time to come, celebrating your life for the treasured blessing it has been.  Eternal Life And Peace - Captain, Husband, Father, Brother, Flyer, Pilot, Friend, Brian Welch..........Alleluia !  Amen !!,   Troy David Powers
