5TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS - ST. THOMAS BECKET AND CONSUMATE FIDELITY TO THE SUPREME KING..........

On this 5th Day of Christmas, I am resting my body after Morning Mass, on my last day off of 2010.  I went to bed and woke up tired, aure sign that the physical workout of Advent and Christmas Eve to now, is saying, hey time out, please !!  Ha Ha !! He He !!  I will take my Christmas days off from next Sunday to Friday afternoon.  They will be a combinatiuon of relaxing, recreating, and re-grouping for three days locally, then going to Dallas, Texas for 2 days for the first Memorial Service for my Sacramento State alumni friend and fraternity brother, Brian Welch.  Thomas Becket, the English saint, who was Chancellor and then A Bishop of the Church, in Canterbury, England is on the liturgical calendar today.  A loyal servant of the King of England Henry II, Becket refused be unconditionally subservient to the King, putting his Christian Faith first, and thus was martyred.  St. Thomas Becket popularly referred to, as a Man For All Seasons, was unwavering in his belief, trust, and devotion, to God and the Church.  He can teach us who live at a time when increasingly even Catholic-Christians regularly selectively choose what they belief or practice, indifferent to placing any preference on how diligently they carry out their Discipleship, persons of Faith and commitment like St. Thomas Becket, are a healthy reminder of the call of our Lord and Savior, to constancy in practicing the Catholic-Christianityt we profess.  To live the mystery of believing, not approaching believing as magic we can turn on and off, as we choose.  Faith and Belief are the fabrics of our lives, not merely options we exercise when we feel like it.  As we inch near the finish line of 2010, how well are you keeping the Christmas Season.  Please God, you are being People of the Season, continuing to believe, trust, and devote, yourself to the Incarnate Word of God's Love..........Happy 5th Day Of Christmas / St, Thomas Becket Pray For Us,   Fr.  Troy
