LESS THAN 35 HOURS TO THE END OF 2010 : THE YEAR OF, "BETTY WHITE"..........

2010 A.D., opened with the fall-out from the 2009 Christmas Day bomber in Detroit, Michigan USA, and the devastating Earthquake in Haiti.  2010 A.D., is closing with a political shifting in the United States, and continuing unsteadiness in the World Economy, despite some improvement, since the near collapse occurred two years ago.  On a brighter and surprising note much of 2010 has been what not only me, but many people have referred to as the Year of, "Betty White".  Having turned 88 years old in January 2010, she staged a continuous year long comeback.  A more than sixty star of television and movies, with highly memorable tv roles as, "Sue Ann Nivens", in the, 'Mary Tyler Moore Show', in the 1970's; and, "Rose Nylund", in the, 'Golden Girls', from 1985-1992.  Starting with a Facebook campaign earlier in the year to get her a Host invitation for an episode of NBC's 'Saturday Night Live'.  The millions of Facebookers who expressed support for her as an SNL host, led to her being slotted for the May 8th Mother's Day weekend episode of SNL.  Her episode was the highest rated SNL episode in the ratings since the November 2008 Election episodes.  Then in June, this veteran comedic actress premiered as a co-star with actresses, Valerie Bertenelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendy Malek, in the TV Land cable comedy, "Hot In Cleveland".  The initial summer episodes aired became the highest rated cable comedy series of 2010.  The success of the Facebook SNL campaign, also led to another Facebook effort to have Betty White named Host of the 2011 Academy Awards Cremonies.  Whether or not she is made Host, my guess is this phenomenal actress, will be prominently included in the Oscar telecast.  The second season of, "Hot In Cleveland", begins January 19, on TV Land, and the word is actors and actresses are clamoring to be guest stars on the show.  Mary Tyler Moore is supposedly lined up to guest star, perhaps as soon as the season premiere episode, January 19.  So in many ways, given all the news events of this year, if Time Magazine's Person of the Year was Facebook's founder; then there is equal reason to propose that 2010 has been the Year of Betty White..........Fr.
