"ETCH A SKETCH" PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS............

Buried in one of the closets of my childhood, like that of millions of children, is a toy made by the Ohio Arts Company, called an "Etch A Sketch".  After a comment by Mitt Romney presidential campaign senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom, yesterday morning on CNN, saying that after gaining the necessary delegates and the nomination the Romney campaign will be like an etch a sketch, which by shaking it you clear and can change the screen.  That infers a shift in Romney's position on issues for the General Election campaign against President Obama, which has been a problem for him during the primary and caucus season to date, due to past political and governing issue positions taken by Governor Romney's that he has shifted his views on as a candidate for the Republican Presidential Nomination.   Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, the Democratic National Committee, among others -pounced on the Fehrnstrom comment and it not only overshadowed the afterglow of his Illinois Primary win, but also the endorsement he received yesterday from former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.  Etch A Sketch toys are being used by his Republican challengers and Democratic opponents, and being handed out at Gingrich and Santorum campaign events, and Santorum is calling him the etch a sketch candidate, and Gingrich is stating we cannot have an etch a sketch president.  How long, far, or deep, the fallout from the etch a sketch gaffe will go, as the remainder of the 2012 Presidential campaign continues  is uncertain.  But if the symbolism permeates the public's consciousness as the defining reason the Most Conservative and Tea Party Republicans, as well as some Independents, are skeptical of the Romney candidacy, he may find the perception it causes impossible to overcome in this his second quest for The White House.  One astonishing response to the the gaffe is that just one day later Amazon.com reports requests for Etch A Sketch toy screens has increased 3,000 percent !!!!!!
So the Ohio Arts toy company and it's meager valued stock. which was moving up today, are the immediate beneficiaries of the latest topsy turvy gaffes and misfires updating the Presidential Politics of Election 2012............Fr.  Troy
