2ND SUNDAY OF LENT GOSPEL......PREVIEW OF FUTURE GLORIFICATION............

As Jesus prepared to meet His prophetic and sacrificial Mission as God's Co-Eternal Son to be the source of perfect Salvation for Humankind in the Paschal Mystery of Passion, Death, and Resurrection, He endured to conquer the divisiveness of Sin and reconcile fallen, mortal, Human beings with the potential  and promise for Eternal Life; in the midst of teaching and forming His Disciples for what lay ahead, He steeled them for His Suffering, by giving them a preview of the future Glorification God would share with Believers in the Christ.  The Transfiguration Event experienced by Jesus and witnessed to by three of the Apostles - Peter, James, and John, served as an assurance of their faith in, and following of, Jesus, despite the Passion and Death He would shortly thereafter endure.  For Catholic-Christians over the span of the past two thousand years the promise and hope of the Transfiguration and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, has been an anchor of our Faith, that despite our own sufferings and sacrifices, we too through the salvific attainment of the Christ of All Creation can and will share in the state of everlasting Glorification in God's Kingdom.  Lent is our transfiguring experience of going through the desert of atonement and self sacrifice, to discover the growth and gain to be derived in the Eternal Easter of God's Glory.  The crosses of hardship, pain, and suffering, we bear during the course of our lives on earth are not the whole story of who we are.  Maintaining the constancy of our Faith in the New and Risen Life of Jesus The Christ, requires that we be reconciled and renewed in believing and anticipating the Glory awaiting us just as surely as it does Moses, Elijah, and all the Prophets, Disciples, and Saints, of God............Fr.  Troy
