ROMNEY'S STANDBEARER STYLE VICTORY SPEECH LAST NIGHT............

Mainstream news coverage and political analysis and punditry is almost unanimous in praise for Mitt Romney's victory speech last night in New Hampshire, following his wins in the 5 Primaries yesterday in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.  He won all five states by double digitial margins, of as much as thirty points.  Romney's speech was tailored to present him as the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee, who after 43 primaries and caucuses has won the right to be the GOP's standardbearer in opposing President Obama, in the General Election on November 6th; even though he remains more than 300 delegates short of the required number of delegate votes to win the nomination.  It is expected Romney will have secured the necessary number by the end of the primary caucus season in mid June.  Last night, Romney focused his message on the Economy and what he strongly excoriated as Barack Obama's failed leadership during the past three and a half years.  He dimissed any effort to divert or distract the voters focus on the Obama re-election campaign  summarizing his remarks by stating, "It's still the Economy, and we are not Stupid", hearkening back to the now famous 1992 Bill Clinton presidential campaign mantra.  Convincing the electorate that he Romney is the superior and acceptable choice as an alternative to the incumbent President Obama, now becomes one of Romney's major electoral challenges.  His selection of a vice presidential running mate will be the first concrete indication, and although a number of possibilities are being floated, presently it is Ohio U.S. Senator Rob Portman, a former Congressman, U.S. Trade Representative, and Federal Budget Director, who is thought to be a likely pick............Fr.  Troy
