A FRATERNAL, FRIENDS CENTERED, LITURGICAL HOLY THURSDAY............

A fraternal Holy Thursday morning visit on this day that denotes the institution of the Priesthood, as well as the Eucharist, by the Lord Jesus Christ, brought two very welcome brother priests to see me, Reverend Father John Folmer and Reverend Father Steven Avella.  After having a wonderful conversation in my room, we gathered together with Bishop Emeritus Francis Quinn, at his invitation in his quarters to celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.  Bishop Quinn asked me to anoint him, and then in turn anointed us.  What a gracious way to begin this sacred first day of the Easter Triduum.  My South Sacramento, St. Rose Church parishioner friend, Ted Dahlberg,  then arrived to drive me to an appointment with my new primary care physician, Dr. Jakiddi Reddy, M.D.  I am very impressed with him and am glad to be adding him to my medical team.  After meeting with Joe Gibson and Ruth Rosenberg, for coffee at Peets up the street, Marti Geiger, from Sacred Heart Church came to escort me across the street to concelebrate the Mass of the Lord's Supper, with Reverend Father Vincent Juan, the Principal Celebrant and Bishop Quinn, solemnly presiding; Deacons William Riehl, and Gil Parra, assisting; and seminarian Rene as Acolyte.  I was greeted and welcomed bacxk by many of those present, including my former Confirmation student and friend, Tony Clark, who was in attendance at the Mass with his wife and youngest daughter, and was one of the twelve parishioners who had his feet washed in tonight's mandatum liturgical rite.  I am grateful to Marti, for facilitating my presence and to Msgr. Bob Walton, Fr. Vincent Juan, and the people of Sacred Heart Parish, for including me in their Holy Week festivities............Fr.  Troy
