THE PENN STATE FOOTBALL SCANDAL REQUIRES FULL JUSTICE...........

The fallout and reaction to the Penn State Football Sandusky sexual abuse of children scandal underlines the greviousness and tragedy it is for the victims and their families.  Total disclosure and full Justice are necessary, as the investigations and prosecution of these crimes proceed.  My blog column last night about Coach Joe Paterno, was not intended to excuse or rationalize his responsibility to have legally and morally taken the right reporting action to address the abuse; but to put into context the lifetime service, accomplioshment, and all but pristine, college football program he has coached for nearly a half century.  He is, and will pay a high price for this lapse of judgment, in that it will be a very large stain on his reputation.  I question whether it should be allowed to outright discredit him.  The response of the students on campus last night show how strong the emotions are flowing for, as well as against Coach Paterno.  Peaceful assembly and protest is their constitutional right, but taking their opposition to Paterno's firing to the point of the riot that broke out on the Penn State campus, late last night into the morning, is a seriously wrongheaded response.  Let us continue to pray for trhe victims of sexual abuse who suffered from the crimes of a predator assistant coach and for civility and cooperation at Penn State, that justice may prevail...........Fr.  Troy
