"NEW WORDS, ANCIENT FAITH" ARE AT THE HEART OF THE MASS TEXTS CHANGES AND TODAY'S PARISH SCRIPTURE STUDY...........

Our Thursday afternoon Parish Scripture Study Series today dealt with a Eicharistic Prayer from the second century of Christianity that was a liturgical text used by the early Church.  This Eucharistic Prayer resembles the Presentation of the Gifts Blessed Be God prayers we are and will continue to use, which are Jewish in origin.  The portion that follows the first part is not unlike prayers of Thanksgiving after Communion, prayed by Catholics for centuries.  This particular Eucharistic Prayer comes from the Didache, an first/second centiry document of the Church, that is revered as an apostolic blueprint of the authentic practices of the Catholic-Christian Community.  The spirit and truth of those words, like the words of the Eicharistic Prayer II, we have used since the Second Vatican Council, will be authenticated by the new words of the revised Mass texts in the Roman Missal 3rd Edition, we begin praying and worshipping with on the 1st Sunday of Advent, November 27.  Our ancient faith in adoring, praising, glorifying, and honoring, God remains at the heart of our belief in the Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier, of our lives and All Creation...........Fr.  Troy
