UPDATING THE DAY AFTER ELECTION 2010.....READING THE RESULTS AND WHERE WE GO FROM HERE..........

On this day after Election 2010, all of us can breathe a sigh of relief, the politicking and relentless barrage of ads, attacks and counterattacks, are behind us for a short while.  The Republicans, who two years ago were thought to be on life support at best, have come back strongly in this midterm Election, thanks in large measure to the Tea Party.  Where this leaves the governance of the nation the next two years remains to be seen, as the Republican majority in the House of Representatives grapple with the issues confronting the United States economically, socially, morally.  Going back to the previous Administration's blueprint will not work, for those policies led to the economic decline and near depression like collapse, we are trying to turn around.  60-65 new House members for the GOP, and 6 new U.S. Senators, means compromises will have to be ironed out to achieve anything legislatively between now  and December 2011, in order to achieve consensus in serving the common good of our citizens, no small task given the partisan polarization that exists.  May sane heads and sincere hearts prevail, as we discover how our new split government will work together to accomplish something  meaningful..........Fr.  Troy
