A ROYAL ENGAGEMENT IN GREAT BRITAIN.....IS IT CAUSE FOR REJOICING ?..........

Since overnight Tuesday morning, Great Britain, the United States, and millions around thge World have been aflutter about the Royal Engagement of Prince William Wales and Catherine Middleton.  Despite our Revolutionary War more than two and a third centuries ago, to be made independent of the British Crown, Americans have maintained a keen interest in the comings and goings of the English Monarchy, the House of Windsor, for the past century.  From the abdicated King Henry VIII, in  1937, who surrendered his kingly crown for, "The love of the woman he loved", twice divorced American socialite, Wallis Simpson, being coupled in his post abdication decades as the Duke and Duchess of York; to being enamored with King George VI and his Queen Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, who survived him for fifty years, to age 101,  as the beloved Queen Mother the current British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II, who herself is in the 59th year on the Throne; through the past five decades of Weddings, Births, Scandals, and Divorces, and Princess of Wales Diana Mania; the current frenzy in the USA as well throughout the British Commonwealth and the World is focused not on the next King of England, Prince Charles Wales, but on his heir apparent, Prince William Wales, the oldest of two sons sired and born between Prince Charles and Princess Diana.  The first three days of media coverage and public curiosity about the announcement of the Royal Engagement of 28 year old Prince William Wales and his presumptive wife and future queen, Catherine Middleton, also 28, has followed the pattern of the past century.  Extended news coverage and special peogramming featuring the couple has already begun to unfold, for a Wedding the date of which is not set, except to be said to be sometime next Spring or Summer in London.  So stand by, for in the months ahead the focus on, "Wills and Kate", as they are popularly called,will be increasingly in the news, as our enamored citizerns along with the British and a projected 1 billion plus people around the globe tune in for the latest, vicarious, saga of Royal Love..........Watching As The Windsors Work Up Another Royal Wedding,   Fr.  Troy
