ALL SOULS DAY 2010 : ETERNAL REST AND PEACE, GRANT THEM O LORD - AND THE LIGHT OF YOUR KINGDOM SHINE UPON THEM..........

From the early years of Catholic-Christianity to present days, our Faith Tradition has always maintained a commemoration of the Dead, who are the Faithful Departed of the Church.  In the first three centuries persecution of Christians resulting in a major multitude of martyrs, who shed their blood because of their belief in Jesus Christ and unwavering witness to the Gospel.  Circa 1000 A.D., the Abbot of Cluny, made prayer and remembrance of the all the Holy Souls a priority, that extended to Universal Church, thus All Souls today and our November Month of Remembrance.  I am presiding at 2 All Souls Day Masses today, on a day when traditionally when priests are permitted to celebrate 3 Masses, equaled only to the 3 Masses priests may celebrate on Christmas Day.  May our prayers commemorating family members, friends, and fellow believers, who are Faithfully Departed assist them to attain God's race,  Peace, and Eternal Life..........Fr.Troy
