STRIKING A BALANCE AS CHRISTIAN DISCIPLES AND SOCIETAL CITIZENS...........

The open secret of our living a well rounded and fulfilling life, as human beings and Catholic Christians, is learning to strike a healthy and necessary balance between the sacred and the secular, in our daily lives.  Today, the first Monday of the new civil and calendar year, is an excellent example of my point.  For us as Believers in the Light of Savation, Jesus The Christ, today has been Day 10, of the 16.3 Days of Christmas 2010 / 2011.  So we should have been trying to live the day in that context, to the best of our ability, as our spiritual opportunity.  But as Citizens of this Society,we may also have secular, personal and professional jobs to do, especially as the first work week of the New calendar Year of 2011, gets underway that requires our attention and efforts.  Thus, we must find the means to strike just the right combination of Work in the wider World, with our Faith in God and the Community of Believers.  It is not an either / or, proposition - but a blended awareness that we are wholistic persons, with the need to function fully on all levels both temporally and spiritually.  So as you resume a normal schedule of work, family duties, and religious observance, how will youprioritize them,so as to make ample time to carry them out without sacrificing one to inordinately serve the other, and to achieve the fulfillment our hearts and minds need to be centered and restful people ?...........Fr.  Troy
