FRANCIS OF ARGENTINA'S FIRST FEAST DAY AS SUPREME PONTIFF OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND WORLD.............

On this liturgical and sanctoral calendar date commemorating Francis of Assisi, the patronal feast day of the present Holy Father Pope Francis, has him in Assisi, Italy; in which he presided at an open air Mass at which he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to the life and example of the humility and holiness of the 12th Century man who has become an iconic Saint.  Coming amidst the three days of Pope Francis' initial with the Catholic Church Reform Commission of 8 International Cardinals to recommend reforms and redirection beginning with the Roman Curia in the Vatican, +Francis homily today compared the spirit and ministry of Francis of Assisi, to the need to reform and renew the focus and purposes of the 3rd Millennium Church not as one of hierarchical and institutional privilege but of and for the poor - and for all, not just the few.  "Tune into God, Walk with our Lord, and Proclaim the Gospel, to the margins of society",is what Pope said to the priests, religious, catechists, and diocean pastoral council members today on his brief pilgrimage to Assisi.  The first Pope to take the name Francis, as the Successor of St. Peter, he also declared today, "Christians and the Church, must strip themselves of Worldliness".  I will be blogging more about Pope Francis' Assisi visit today; and the the work of the Reform Commission in coming days; as the Pontiff's devotion to cleansing and purifying the Catholic-Christian Church from corruption and careerism continues.............Fr.  Troy David
