THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY SUNDAY AND MONDAY 1963.............

On this 50th Anniversary Sunday of the killing of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, slain at age 46, as he rode with the First Lady, Governor Connally, and his wife in an open topped limousine in a motorcade through downtown Dallas, watching the livestream internet coverage of the real time  events on Day 3, a half century ago brings back my memories then as a seven year old boy.  The shooting that Sunday morning of the suspected perpetrator of the President's Assassination as he was being transferred from the city to county jail. is burnt in my memory as will tens of millions of Americans my family watched it happen live.  The sudden appearance of Jack Ruby to within a foot of Lee Harvey Oswald surrounded by Dallas Police, and firing a gunshot point blank into his abdomen, which tore through multiple vital organs, was shocking and surreal to watch.  That day, like with the entirety of those four days of which this was the third; watching the casket of President Kennedy exit the White House and be drawn by caisson to thee Rotunda of the U.S.Capitol, the ceremonies and eulogies, and the endless throng of persons who filed passed, not for the scheduled 6-8 hours, but over 20 hours are seered in our memories of a man and a time America and the World continues to remember and revere.............Fr.  Troy David
