CAN THE USA EVER ARRIVE AT A FAIL-SAFE DEFENSE AGAINST TERROR ?..........

The latest potential terror threat against the Continental United States within the past day, involving tow Emiriates  cargo planes carrying packages to a synagogue in Chicago, Illinois, containing the same explosive as that worn by the Christmas Day terrorist suspect in Detroit last December, causes me to ask, Can we ever arrive at a fail-safe defense against terror attempts against our country ?  Nearly a decade after the tragedy of 9-11, and all the time, money, and resources, we have committed to Homeland Security as well as the international War on Terror, here we are still be confronted and challenged by the bombs and other dangers being perpetrated upon us by airplanes and bonafided delivery services.  This Yemen to Chicago threat was successfully thwarted outside the United States by the apt Intelligence of our allies Saudia Arabia and Great Britain, verifying that our international security alliance is working effectively to stop terrorist attacks.  Inspecting persons and packages at transportation terminals throughout the country and worldwide, to an almost relentless degree, as Msgr. Kavanagh and I experienced on September 10, in Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, when he was brusquely frisked by the TSA agent, all because he inadvertantly left his wallet in his back pocket.  An 85 year old, double hip replacement, 62 year priest, being treated as though he were a terrorist threat, when the likes of UPS, FED ex, DHL, and other worldwide cargo delivery companies, are still only randomly investigating the parcels they transport domestically and internationally.  Why has not the past decade plus of heightened awareness and efforts, caused the all such delivery services to thoroughly inspect and then approve shipment of the packages they deliver ?  Common sense, Security policy and practices, and Federal and International Law, should be enough reasons for them to do so.  Or is it merely easier and more cost effective for these companies, to inspection only a cross-section of all the materials they transport ?  And if convenience and profits are more important, then sadly, the threat of terrorist sent explosive parcels will continue to be delivered to the USA and elsewhere in the World, when bucking up and doing their jobs with complete thoroughness will resolve what otherwise, will much more potentially remain a terrorist threat to our safety and security..........In Peo-Active Prayer And Action For The Peace And Security We Need,   Fr.  Troy
