In the midst of the 16th Century of Christianity and the Counter Reformation of the Catholic Church, their rose up a religious leader, a Spaniard, who was a nobleman, a military man, and a hermit, - known as Ignatius Loyola. Following a valiant military career, he became a Priest of Jesus Christ at age 46, and went on to become the Founder and first Superior General of the Society of Jesus, - the Jesuits. The Jesuit religious order of priests and scholastics have served the Church of Sacramento very well the past fifty six years. From the establishment of St.Ignatius Loyola Parish, in Sacramento's Arden Park in 1954, which is staffed by Jesuit priests, to the excellent secondary education provided by Jesuit High School in Carmichael, since 1963, the Jesuits, who are some of the best teachers in all of Catholic-Christianity, continue to provide a profound an undeniably effective ministry to the Sacramento Diocese.
To Reverend Father Michael Moynahan S.J., the current Pastor of St. Ignatius Parish, Reverend Father Gregory Bonfiglio, S.J., 5he President of Jesuit High School, and the entire Jesuit Family, Happy Patronal Feast Day. I am happy to be back in the American River Suburbs with you again. I am also glad to extend St. Ignatius Feast Day commendations to my more than 30 year friend, Vernon Theodore "Ted" Hornback III, an English teacher at Jesuit High, who is who is now Chairman of the English Department at Jesuit in Carmichael..........In The Spirit Of St. Ignatius Loyola, Fr.
