TODAY'S CNN / ORC POLL HAS THE PRESIDENT LEADING BY SIX PERCENT............

The latest CNN / Opinion Research Corporation released at the top of the hour on the CNN Situation Room, shows President Barack Obama opening up a six point lead over Governor Mitt Romney in the Presidential Election campaign, after the Democratic National Convention.  As of today, Obama has 52%;  Romney has 46%; a four point increase for the President and a two point decrease for the Governor, from one week ago before the DNC, when the race was tied : 48% - 48% among likely voters.  Among Men, with  whom Romney has had a double digit lead, the President now leads 48% - 47%, a reversal from the 55% - 43% lead with Men, for Romney as of last Monday.  When asked which Candidate is More in touch with the Middle Class the Obama's  margin over Romney was six percent, 49% - 43%, saying it is the President.  Today's Poll gives Obama a twenty percent advantage for relating better to the Middle Class, 57% - 37%.  In regards to whether Romney or Obama Shares Their Values, two months ago the President led the  Governor by two points, 47% - 45%.  Now   Obama has a seven percent edge over Romney, 51% - 44%.  On the major issues of Campaign 2012, the Economy, Foreign Policy, Medicare, Health Care, the Deficit, and Taxes, shifts in who is better able to handle these issues has occurred.  Whereas before the DNC, Romney led on being better able to handle the Economy, he and Obama are now tied.  The President now has a substantial lead in Foreign Policy, Medicare, Health Care, and Taxes; and the Governor leads only on the Deficit.  The CNN / ORC Poll's national preference finding of a six percent lead by Obama concurs with the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll finding this morning of a five point lead for Obama, 49% - 44%.  The findings of these two polls comes on the same day the Romney for President campaign chief pollster, issued a memo to the Romney campaign operatives telling them nor to fret in the face of the latest numbers that the economic conditions are on the Governor's side and that Romney will win the Election; even as Politico reported today internal polling by the Romney campaign found themselves down nightly during the DNC by 5-9% to Obama.   Increasing political analysis and commentary since the last night of the DNC, is that the First Presidential Debate may be Governor Romney's last significant chance to convince the voters to elect him President; having been unable to do so after securing the Nomination in the Spring; Picking his Vice Presidential candidate early last month; or with the RNC and his Acceptance Speech.  For sure an intensive 57 days atr ahead as the ad wars ad nauseam, and the ground war in the battleground eight or nine States bursts out in the countdown to General Election Day November 6th............Fr.  Troy
