LIVING GOD'S RULE OF LAW BRINGS FREEDOM AND FAITH.............

On this 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time the bridge days in the United States between the Republican and Democratic National Conventions and the Labor Day holiday weekend; and universally the days marking the death and funeral of Carlo Cardinal Martini, the Archbishop-Emeritus of Milan, Italy.  The call of the Sunday Scriptures is steeped in our call to embrace God's rule of Law as presented to us by the Heavenly Father through Moses to the Jewish People, and through Jesus directly to the Disciples.  God's Law is a dual teaming of  the legally prescribed aspects of law in a well ordered society comprised of God's People as framed by The Commandments; and the the lovingly response in human relations we generously make, flowing from the Beatitudes.  Personally, spiritually, socially, political, theologically, we must come to embrace God's Law in ways that our compatible with our Faith in a benevolent and compassionate God who gives us freedom to live in fidelity to the spirit of caring of building the eternal coming of the Kingdom, by employing the fullness of God's Law of Love on earth.  Politics and Religion frame and promote a vision, a way, of living our lives, but they require not a blind allegiance that goes unquestioning but rather a dialogue of purpose that grounds us in teachings that flow from caring hearts and minds and a fully formed truth steeped Conscience.  Carlo Martini lived such a life for eighty five years, 60 years as a Priest and Bishop of the Church ............Fr.  Troy
