ADVENT WEDNESDAY WEEK ONE.............

On this Wednesday of the First Week of Advent as we awaken our hearts, minds, homes, and communities, anticipating the Lord Jesus' threefold Coming - first in History as God Who Became Man; Everyday, in the opportunities to encounter Him in Word and Sacraments in Living Faith and in His Second Coming in Glory at the end of Time; we observe the 50th Anniversary of the Vatican II Constitution On The Liturgy, Sancrosanctum Concilium - it is apt to offer as my Advent reflection today the opening words of that Sacred Constitution.  "This sacred Council has several aims in view :  it desires to impart an ever increasing vigor to the Christian life of the faithful; to adapt more suitably to the needs of our times those institutions which are subject to change; to foster whatever can promote union among all who believe in Christ; to strenthen whatever can help to call the whole of mankind into the household of the Church,  The Council therefore sees particularly cogent reasons for undertaking the reform and promotion of the liturgy".  SC #1.  .............Come Lord Jesus Come !  fr.tdp
