ST. JEROME, - DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH; MASTER OF THE BIBLE..........

Born in the seminal, 4th Century of Christianity, St. Jerome was both a holy priest of Jesus Christ and a very knowledgeable scholar of the Sacred Scriptures.  Born in Dalmatia, on becoming a priest, Jerome became a devoted monk and was an ascetic, who as a scripture scholar wrote authored voluminous and numerous Latin commentaries on the Word of God, and was the author of the Latin, Vulgate version of the Holy Bible.  He is credited with being the single most responsible person for compiling and determining which of the writings of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament); and the Christian Scriptures (New Testament); were included in the compendium of the Sacred Scriptures that are the Holy Bible.  Jerome with his vast knowledge and scholarship, discerning through the prayerful inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the 73 books of Jewish and Christian authorship that are considered the inspired, inerrant, Word of God, The Bible.  All together there are 46 books in the Old Testament, and 27 books in the New Testament, that met the vigorous standards of St. Jerome, Priest, Doctor of the Church, and Master of the Bible.  Considered one of the four great Doctors of the Latin Church, St. Jerome is the patron saint of Scripture Scholars.  In contemplating and compiling the compendium of sacred writings into one complete biblical text, St. Jerome famous statement of that time has reached down to us through the subsequent centuries and met the test of time : "Ignoratio Scripturarum ignoratio Christi est"; >>> translated meaning, "IGNORANCE OF SCRIPTURE IS IGNORANCE OF CHRIST"..........In The Grace And Peace The Holy Spirit Brings In The Inspired, Divine Revelation, Of The Word Of God,   Fr.  Troy
