24TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME : BEGINNING OF NEW PARISH YEAR 2010-11;..........
7:45 am - On this first Sunday of the new Parish Year, which is the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time, there is much to focus in on, at OLOL. The 8:30 am Mass, which Father Traynor is concelebrating with me, and at which our new Parish Secretary / Office Assistant, Keith Gray is present to observe the music ministry and meet with the music ministers of the parish. The 10:30 am Mass, will include the members of the Handicapables Ministry of Sacramento, who attend a monthly Sunday Eucharistic celebration in different parishes, and who will then be served a lunch by the Ladies of St. Peter Claver in our parish, an occurrence of nearly thirty years standing. At that Mass I will preach the Scriptural theme of Repentance and Rejoicing for this 24th Sunday in Ordinary, while concentrating on Ministry to Disabled Persons in the Catholic-Christian Church. Then I will baptize our newest OLOL member, 75 day old baby boy, Luke Ronald Safron, who was adopted at birth by his mother Eve. Attending the lunch with the Handicapables, in the Parish Hall, a delicious meal of roasted chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and chocolate cake, with fruit punch and / or coffee, then led me back to my calling bed at 1:45 pm, - to sleep off my jet lag.....9:40 pm - Awake again, for at least a few hours hours, I want to finish this entry with a shout out of "Celebration", to my beloved Kilkenny friends, Geraldine and kevin Butler, who today are marking their 24th Wedding Anniversary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....So It Goes For The First Sunday of Parish Year 2010-11,..........Fr. Troy Powers, Pastor Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Sacramento / Del Paso Heights / Rio Linda / Elverta
