JEB BUSH QUESTIONS WHETHER PRESIDENTS REAGAN AND BUSH 41 WOULD FIT CURRENT REPUBLICAN EXPECTATIONS ?............

In remarks delivered Monday morning at a Bloomberg News breakfast meeting, former two term Florida Governor John Ellis "Jeb" Bush, son of former Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush, and brother of George Walker Bush, questioned whether both his father and his father's predecessor as President, Ronald Wilson Reagan, would meet the expectations of today's Republican Party and its unwillingness to compromise to arrive at solutions for the national good.  Calling the current partisan intransigence, "disturbing", and blaming the conduct of President Obama for causing much of the problem, Jeb Bush declareed, "His first year could have a year of great accomplishment had he focused on things where there was more common ground".  But he then went on to say, "Back to my Dad's time and Ronald Reagan's time - they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support", adding, "Reagan would be criticized for doing the things that he did".  Contrasting Reagan and Vush 41's style of reaching across the aisle to achieve their goals, with what Governor Bush calls today's "temporary", partsan fervor, he said such behavior would make obtaining the presidential for his dad and Reagan difficult.  The central statement of the remarks Jeb Bush delivered about the two former Presidents was, "Ronald Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad, they would have a hard time if you define the Republican Party and I don't, as having an orthodoxy that doesn't allow for disagreement, doesn't allow for finding some common ground".  Jeb Bush was also critical of Mitt Romney;s position on immigration during the primaries, saying Romney, "put himself in a box", and should instead take a, "broader and more intense" approach to the issue.  Asserring it is a, "different environment left and right", Governor Bush criricized the Democrats for their, "partisanship", in response to the Federal Budget Plan of Representative Paul Ryan from Wisconsin; calling the response of Congress to the Ryan Plan, "talking points rather engagement".  Having repeatedly denied any interested in being this year's vice presidential nominee, and considered a prime possible future Republican presidential candidate, Jeb Bush told Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, last Thursday, 2012 was probably, "my time to run for the Presidency".   What affect these comments on the current political environment and Jeb Bush;s viability as a future candidate, will be played out over the course of the remainder of this Presidential Election campaign and the next four years............Fr.  Troy
