POPE FRANCIS MAKES HIS FIRST APPOINTMENT TO THE ROMAN CURIA AT THE VATICAN.............

On this 7th Day of Easter and the twenty fifth day after being elected Pope of the Catholic Church, has made his first Curial appointment today choosing a Spanish Franciscan, Jose Rodriguez, 60 years old, to be second in command at the Vatican Office for Religious Orders.  Coming from outside the Vatican, he is the first pick of the new Holy Father, to a bureaucracy in critical need of cleaning out and reform.  Having been twice elected the Superior General of the Franciscan Order, the Friars Minor; the newly elevated Archbishop Jose Rodriguez, OFM, is since last year the Leader of an International Association of Male Religious Order Superiors.  Archbishop Rodriguez succeeds the American bishop +Joseph Tobin, who had been transferred back to the United States, as the new Archbishop of Indianapolis, Indiana.  With the Roman Curia mired in scandal and infighting, during the past few years, shed light on by the Vatileaks imbroglio last year and accusations of financial irregularities with the Vatican Bank again in recent years, a thorough cleansing of the Institutional Church beginning at its highest level is vitally imperative.  In coming weeks, the appointments of a new Vatican Secretary of State and other officials, hopefully substantially fresh faces from throughout  the Universal, who are genuine reforms insistent on renewing the Church and purifying corruption, will be named.  God Bless Pope Francis for this wise and optimistic first choice.............Fr.  Troy
