SACRAMENTO DIOCESE'S NEXT PERMANENT DEACON CLASS MINISTRY OF CANDIDACY THIS MORNING...........
The next English speaking Permanent Diaconate class to be ordained for service in parishes of the Sacramento Diocese, will receive the Ministry of Candidacy, from Bishop Jaime Soto this morning at 9:30 a.m., in Holy Family Church, in Citrus Heights The next Spanish speaking Diaconate class will also be receiving be receiving the Ministry of Acolyte, at the same ceremony. I will be in attendance as among the Deacon Candidates is Paul Friedrich, my former Presentation Church parishioner, and currently doing part of his diaconal formation internship with us here at OLOL, and Mark Hronicek, my former Holy Family Church parishioner, who are aspirants to the Ministry of Candidacy today. Candidacy, is one of three ministries prior to ordination, that all aspirants for the diaconate and the priesthood celebrate, Acolyte, and Lector, being the other two ministries. I received the Ministries of Acolyte and Lector at St. Kieran's Seminary, in Kilkenny, the spring of 1984; and the Ministry of Candidacy, at St. Patrick's Seminary, in Menlo Park, in the spring of 1985. I commend and congratulate Paul Friedrich, Mark Hronicek, their wives Sharon and Irene, and their diaconate classmates today, as they attain this next vital step towards ordination...........Fr. Troy
