CANOSSIAN SISTER TERESA NORRIS, CELEBRATES HER 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF RELIGIOUS LIFE TODAY...........
On August 17th, we commemorated the Golden Anniversary of the founding of the Cristo Rey Province of the Canossians, in the United States, and among the four Sisters in the initial vanguard was Sister Teresa Norris, who with her three confreres were sent to Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the invitation of the Pastor of Annunciation Parish, and established a Canossian Daughters of Charity convent in Albuquerue, on August 17, 1961. Eight years later, Sacramento Bishop Alden J. Bell, invited the Canossian Sisters to come to the Sacramento Diocese, and establish a convent in Jackson, Amador County. In 1972, the Canossians established a convent at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Sacramento. Today, September 14, 2011, the Feast of the Triumph of the Holy Cross, Sister Teresa Celine Norris, celebrates her Diamond Jubilee, as a Canossian Daughter of Charity, the 60th Anniversary of her entrance into Religious Life. For her six decades of dedication to her consecrated life in trhe Canossian Order in, "Making Jesus Known And Loved", in the words of their foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa, "We are happy to serve God everywhere, just as He wants us to". Happy Diamond Jubilee, Sister TERESA !!!!!!!!!!!...........Fr. Troy
