BECOMING CALIFORNIA'S LONGEST SERVING GOVERNOR.............
Sixty years ago today, the 30th Governor of California Earl Warren, elected to three consecutive four year terms, and who served 10 years and 9 months as the Chief Executive of the Golden State resigned, becoming the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, by the appointment of President Dwight David Eisenhower. Tonight, October 5, 2013; three score years later to the day, the current Governor of California, Edmund G. Jerry Brown, Jr., who is both the 34th Governor (1975-1983) and the 39th Governor (2011-to and presently) surpasses Governor Warren's lengthiest ever tenure in State of California history and becomes at age 75, California's longest serving Governor to date. With his 2010 election as California Governor, in which he tied Warren, in becoming a three term Governor of the Golden State, he also passed out his own father, Edmund G. Pat Brown Sr., who was the 32nd Governor of California (1959-1967). As Governor Jerry Brown continues the job of signing or vetoing Bills passed at the close of the 2013 Session of the California Legislature, one year before his expected bid to seek a fourth term as Governor, the California Republican State Party Convention is underway this weekend in Anaheim, where two prospective GOP 2014 Gubernatorial candidates, former Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonaldo, R-Santa Maria; Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, R-San Bernardino Mountains. are meeting, greeting, and campaigning among the Convention Delegates. Who but his most dedicated and loyal supporters 20-30 years ago, would have bet that as California Governor, Jerry Brown would equal, tie, and now exceed the term of service of Governor Earl Warren, and be the odds on favorite to win an unprecedented 4th term next year ?.............tdp
