THIS IS THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF PEARL HARBOR DAY.....DECEMBER 7, 1941...........
On December 8, 1941, standing before a Joint Session of Congress in Washington, D.C., President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, declared, "December 7th, a date that will live in infamy". Why ? Because this is Pearl Harbor Day, on which the Japanese air attack on American military facilities in Honolulu, Hawaii, thrust the USA into World War Two. The USS Arizona, was directly bombed, along with twenty one ships that were sunk or severely damaged. Two thousand three hundred and thirty five American Service Men, were killed in the attack. The sunken USS Arizona remains in the waters at the dock of Pearl Harbor, a watery grave for the sailors who were aboard and killed on this day seventy years ago. Today as we commemorate those who gave their lives on Pear Harbor Day, in that infamous, unexpected, surprise military attack - we also remember the 125 remaining surviving veterans of Pearl Harbor. As a part of today's ceremonies in Honolulu, marking this 70th Anniversary, a 91 year old Pearl Harbor who passed away last Spring, will be inurned at the site of the USS Arizona Memorial. For all the men and women who valiantly served in World War II, we pray and thank them again for their service...........In The Promise And Hope of Peace And Justice That Brings God's Reign To Fulfillment, Fr.
