ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS - OVERCOMING THE DARKNESS OF SIN WITH THE LIGHT OF CHRIST...........
St. John of the Cross, was a 16th Century Spaniard, who was a Carmelite priest and a contemporary and close friend of St. Teresa of Avila. At a critical time in the spiritual decline of the Carmelite Order, they came together mutually, to set about reforming their religious order and bring it back to a solid spirituality grounded in the interior life of prayer and contemplation. John of the Cross, who became a Doctor of the Church, went on to write books of deep spirituality. "the Dark Night Of The Soul",is one of his most well known books. In it he wrote of the depths of the interior relationship he shared with Christ and the Cross. So as God's People awaiting the Lord's Coming this Christmas, on this 3rd Wednesday of Advent, may we embrace the prayerfulness and develop a further interior life ourselves in union with the reforms and renewal St. John of the Cross with St. Teresa helped to being about, to increase the spiritual focus we have on Jesus Who Comes...........Fr.
