THE SUNDAY SCRIPTURES FOCUS : LOVE GOD AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR...........
The Book of Exodus passage that is today's First Reading, as laid out in the Covenant Code, the unbreakable Covenant of Love, God established with the Chosen People. Matthew's Gospel Proclamation today has a Pharisee scholar testing and attempting to trap Jesus, into choosung one of all God's Commandments, as the greatest Commandment. Seeing through the trap, Jesus turned it back on the scholar, by choosing the Commandment to Love God, heart, mind, and soul; and then coupling it with the Commandment to Love Your Neighbor, as essential to truly Loving God. Paul in his 1st Letter to the Thessalonians commends and praises them for their fidelity to imitating the Apostles and Christ, the authentic sign of Faithful Discupleship. How successfully do your lives and mine, "imitate the teachings and values of Jesus the Christ and the Twelve Apostles ? Do we show unconditional Love of God and Neighbor daily, or are our own wants and desires, the determining facror ? Committed and earnest Catholic-Christians, honor the Great Commandment of God to Love, consistently as we journey through Life and Faith. Are You ?...........Fr, Troy
