PRIESTS' STUDY DAYS THIS WEEK HAS DUAL TOPICS FOCUS...........
The annual Priests' Study Days in the Sacramento Diocese started today, with dual topics as the focus of our three and a halfs days of consideration together. Day 1, zeroed in on presentations by Margaret L. Smith, of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, in their studies of the, "Historical Context of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests", and Priests Accused of Abuse : Situations and Characteristics. Two very thorough overviews of their research findings by Jay College and CARA, were presented with substantial gravitas and depth, and tonight sparked a lengthy question and answer dialogue between Professor Awift, Bishop Soto, and us diocesan priests.....Tomorrow and Wednesday, will be devoted to another imperative topic, essential to good liturgy and effective communication and discipleship, "Renewing Sunday Preaching". Reverend FatherS James Deiters and Daniel E. Harris, C.M., from the National organization for the Continuing Education of Roman Catholic clergy, will lead us in four sessions, over the two days, to strengthen and improve Sunday preaching by our priests. I will continue sharing more about this, as our Study Days proceed...........Lord Jesus Be With Us !!!!!!!!!!! Fr. Troy
